The Szechuan style of cuisine arose from a culturally distinct area in the central western of part of China, a province known as Sichuan. This area of China came into its own culturally towards the end of the Shang Dynasty, during the 15th century. However, it was also the climate of the area that helped to shape the culinary traditions that were to arise from Sichuan province and make their way into the realm of international cuisine. The province from which the cuisine that the world knows as Szechuan evolved is often hot and humid, and this contributed to this necessity of preparing foods in ways that differ significantly from other regions of China. Szechuan cuisine is primarily known for its hot and spicy dishes, though naturally there is more to Szechuan food than spice and sauces rich and strong in flavor. Ice cream is often called "The Great American Dessert". Although the product is typically American, the U.S. cannot claim its origin. Very little is known of the early history of ice cream; however, the product is definitely known to have been introduced from Europe. The ice cream industry as we know it today, however was wholly developed in the United States.
Ice cream undoubtedly evolved from iced beverages and fruit ices that were popular in early medieval periods, some of which probably contained milk or cream. The practice, in early times, of cooling drinks in ice and snow containing salt is a matter of record. It seems possible that in overcooling some of these punches, the "ice" was discovered. At any rate, various records of frozen fruit flavored ices have been found in European history and frozen ices are still more popular in continental Europe than in the United States and Canada.
The United States has gained undisputed leadership among all other countries in the production of ice cream. DOES FAST FOOD CAUSE OBESITY
Whether child, teen, or adult, frequent fast food eaters are more susceptible to obesity. There are long term studies that show a link between fast food and weight gain. The rapid rise in obesity over the last 3 decades coincides with the rise and popularity of the fast food industry. Child and adult obesity have reached epidemic proportions in the US and in many other countries. Does fast food cause obesity - it probably isn't the only cause, but people who choose fast food as a meal three or more times a week do run a higher risk of obesity. The excessive weight of one third of children in the US is a problem that goes beyond just the extra calories, fat and sugar from fast foods. What is happening is the key nutrients children need for health, growth and brain development are not being consumed. Many children today substitute fries for fruits, snack food for vegetables, and sodas for milk. On top of that, all of the processed foods have less fiber.
